Pre-Game Jitters

Well not really jitters. Maybe that will come tomorrow. Right now, I'm just trying to not stay up too late, so that I can actually get started tomorrow. Tomorrow I start the trip, and I'm hoping I have everything together. If not, oh well. Life goes on. I'm pretty sure I won't die. Anyway, I'm planning on leaving mid-day tomorrow and making my way toward Harrison, AR. I'll probably stop somewhere halfway between here and there, camp for the night, and finish the ride to Harrison on Thursday. I'm just trying to make sure everything is sorted out. There's a lot more things that you have to make sure of before you leave for a couple months than you might think. Little things, like spokes for your wheel, and soap for your dishes, and stuff. And I'm a procrastinator. But, anyway, tomorrow, game on.

  2. Ryan,

I am extremely sad to find out that you were at JBU and I missed ya. However, I am elated to find out about this journey that you have begun--how thrilling to pedal off in to the unknown (or semi-unknown). You are the second friend of mine who has undertaken such an exhibition, the first being my friend Chris (Denver, CO). He journeyed to Chattanooga over a period of 21 days and lived with me for a Summer in that very house that you stayed in with Collins and co. I'm not sure where you're going, per se, but I understand your motivation, and it is noble and right, big fella. I would love for you to meet Chris if you plan on making as far West as Colorado--I KNOW that you would both thoroughly enjoy each other's company and have plenty of ridin' stories to swap; not to mention bicycling inspired philosophical queries to pontificate on.

May the Lord lead you and guide your heart, Ryan.

    All My Love,

    Jesse
